Dunmow Rhodes v Witham Nomads Match Report
MATCH REPORT
Whitham Nomads FC (0)
Dunmow Rhodes FC (8)
After a one sided game in the league earlier on the season
Witham’s fait was repeated once more as Rhodes ran riot with their slick
passing football proved all too much for the home side once more. The round of
16 tie in the Malcom Foy Memorial Trophy was an entertaining one where 8 goals
were scored in a very one sided affair.
With both teams looking thin due to a number of injuries
problems it was expected to be a tight game however this game was not with
Dunmow Rhodes blowing away Witham Nomads with a great attacking performance
despite their defensive formation of a 5-3-2. Sharp from the get go, Rhodes
scored twice inside the first 15 minutes with George Hamill (7 mins) scoring
his second goal in as many games who rounded off a great passing move. A well
worked free kick shortly found Kennie Irving (14 mins) in the box who doubled
the visitors advantage. The game continued to be played in Nomads half and
Dunmow went in at the break 3-0 to the good after Kennie Irving (37 mins) beat
the offside trap to secure his second of the game.
An early Witham goal after the interval would have put them
back in the game at their attempt to try and force extra time in the game despite
all odds. However Rhodes saw off the early second half pressure narrowly after
a goal line clearance from defender Olivier Blower. The floodgates then reopened
with more quickfire goals from the team in yellow and green as Emilio Caceres –
Sola (55 mins) looped a shot over keeper, Paul Le Comte and into the goal. 4
soon became 5 and then 6 with goals from Jake Sutton (61 mins) and Josh Breeze (66 mins) who smashed home his
first goal of the season after a lovely driven pass from the midfield found the
make shift strikers feet who was determined to get himself involved with
goal scoring. Striker Charlie Gooch also returned to action as he replaced Man
of The Match Kennie Irving who’s 2 first half goals all but ended the contest.
Another player looking for his second of the game was Emilio
Caceres - Sola (76 mins) who did indeed
to that after he turned in a cross from the right hand side to score Dunmow’s 7th of the game in which was turning
embarrassing for the hosts. Dunmow notched for the final time as Samuel Hockley
(87 mins) fired into the bottom corner of the goal after a late run into the
box to add salt to wounds for Witham and ensure that Dunmow inflicted an
identical result on Witham Nomads for the second time this season meaning that
Dunmow currently have an eye opening 16-0 aggregate score over their opposition
in the last 2 games.
Witham’s bad day at the office furthered for captain Sam
Greenhalgh who’s frustration was noticeable after an unneeded challenge right
in front of the referee saw him go into the book moments before the final
whistle to round of a game that Witham Nomads will be looking to put behind
them as they return to league action next week.
